Why worrying is overrated!

Hey there!

Its Saturday and I’m sticking to my routine! Woohoo! Well, I’m not sure if you have noticed, but somewhere to your right now lies a ‘Social’ bar. It contains links to my other social media accounts including now an Instagram. Yay! I’d really love for you to go and give me a follow? I promise you won’t regret it – I’ll be Instagramming  QOTDS, links to recent blog posts and also YOUR photos when you use the hashtag #sunshinecraver. So head on over and say hello!

For today’s post I’ll be talking about the annoying and often reoccurring feeling of worry. We’ve all felt it, some more often than others and it can be quite a feat trying to make it disappear.

According to the Oxford dictionary worrying is: “The state of being anxious and troubled over actual or potential problems”. Now I dont know about you but I see a nice old word in there… potential. How silly are we to worry over ‘potential’ problems? Not only is yesterday gone, but tomorrow is not guaranteed! All we have is the now. Why waste this moment? Worrying is overrated.

Some things I have come to learn about worrying that I now find to be very useful include:

  • If its already happened you can’t change it. Nothing, absolutely nothing will come out of worrying about a past problem/event/action. If you’ve hurt someone, say sorry. If you’ve forgotten something, write down and remember next time. The past is exactly that – past. Yesterday will never come again.
  • We only have this moment. If I told you that you only had 1 hour to live, would you sit there worrying about the ‘what ifs’ or the ‘whys’? I think not. You would take that 1 hour and do everything you could to make that hour count, am I right? So take a moment now, notice your surroundings, notice your, if any, feelings of worry, and push them aside. In fact, imagine yourself filling up a balloon with all your doubts, fears and worries, tying it up, and letting it go. Remember that today is a gift, and that’s why they call it the present.
  • If you’re worrying about tomorrow, don’t. Tomorrow is a new day, tomorrow is not guaranteed, and tomorrow, is tomorrow. You can’t control it so why stress over it? Whatever will be will be. Learn. Grow. Repeat. Life is a cycle. Don’t get caught worrying about the next stage and forgetting about the current.

So today, try to WORRY LESS and SMILE MORE, because life is short.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and like if my (amateur) advice helped! See you on Wednesday

Enjoy the sunshine x
