Christmas Countdown

23 DAYS: Christmas Cakes!

Hey there!

I don’t know about you guys but I LOVE cakes. Any kind. I could without a doubt, eat a whole freshly baked cake in one sitting! Did I mention I’m a massive sweet tooth?!

So for that reason I decided that today’s post would be themed around that. Cake. I saw these in Girlfriend Magazine but I put my own twist on them to change it up a bit! I knew that I had to try them out because they looked absolutely adorable!!

Method:

Step 1:

The first thing you want to do is make a cupcake batter. I just used White Wings Vanilla Cupcake Mix because I’m a little lazy. But honestly any vanilla cupcake recipe will do which is why I’m not going to go in detail about this step!

Step 2:

Once you’ve made the batter and placed them in patty cases, you want to grab some red or green food dye (i.e. Christmas colours) and pour a tiny amount in the centre. IMG_0666

Step 3:

Using a skewer (or chopstick) start in the centre and swirl the food dye around to get a ‘marble’ effect.

Step 4:

Bake and set aside to cool completely.

Step 5:

Using raspberry straps, cut into the following shapes. These will serve as the ‘ribbon’. (Tip – don’t use a serrated knife as mine slipped on the sugar consequently slicing the corner of my finger off..)

Step 6:

Make your frosting. Like I said before pretty much everything is up to personal preference, so make whatever your heart desires!

Step 7:

Arrange your ribbon by using excess frosting to act as glue.

And you’re done! How easy was that?!

I will be making lots of these little guys this holiday season, and you should too! The fact that they allow for quite a lot of freedom is great as you can make them to suit your preferred taste. Thanks for reading!

Enjoy the sunshine x
